Ifeanyi Ubah Speaks On Why Ndigbo Must Remain In Nigeria

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who is the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd has advocated for Ndigbo from the South East geopolitical zone to remain in Nigeria quote: "we are infrastructurally and industrially deficient."
According to Mr Ubah, the future of the South East remains bright in Nigeria due to its potential to becoming the economic hub of the country, just the way Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou are to China.
"My reasons are simple - the South-East is particularly not ready for such a move as we are infrastructurally and industrially deficient,” the business mogul said.
Ubah who is also the Publisher of The AUTHORITY Newspapers said the South East lacks the essential and requisite agricultural deposits to sustain herself. He stressed that Ndigbo needs to exploit areas of comparative advantage in agriculture and promote policies that will enhance productivity and trade.
"Industrialisation is key to whatever the South East intends to achieve and stand for. We saw BRIC+S countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China +South Africa) attain their projected economic giant status at the end of 20th Century. Today, all eyes are on the new projected MINT Countries (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey).
He explained that there is high expectations on MINT as the new global economic giants in the 21st Century after the emergence of BRICS (an association of five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa)
Ubah opined that the South East must be to Nigeria what Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou are to China before thinking of separation from Nigeria.

The PDP member also suggested that Ndigbo should strive to make the South East a health tourism hub for Nigeria and West Africa by extension, in other to redirect the massive revenue currently being enjoyed by these Indian and American hospitals.
"The Indian healthcare market is worth around $100 billion and is expected to grow to $280 billion by 2020, a compound annual growth rate of 22.9%," Ubah said.
"Is this not strategic enough for the South East to tap into as a means to creating value before harbouring thoughts of self-determination?
He charged the South East state governors to lead the revolution campaign to actualize his ideas, declaring that "it's high time we stopped our dependence on federal allocations which merely serves to pay civil servants."

In conclusion, Mr Ubah suggested that Ndigbo should secure partnerships with their brothers and sisters in the diaspora as well as the international community, which can be achieved if there is transparency, accountability and the requisite zeal to pursue the cause within the confines of those who possess the mantle of leadership in the South Eastern states, as such qualities breed confidence in the minds of potential investors.

Breaking News: Diezani Looses N34 Billion To FG In Court Judgement

Breaking News: Diezani Looses N34 Billion To FG In Court Judgement
The former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been stripped of a sum of $153,310,000 (N34 billion) alleged to have been diverted from Nigeria's oil revenue by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The judgement passed by Justice Muslim Hassan ordered that huge amount be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government as requested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC who traced the money to three commercial banks in the country where it was kept in the sums of N23,446, 300,000, N9,080,000,000 and $5m.

According to the EFCC, the money was proceeds of criminal activity, hence the anti-graft agency had approached Justice Hassan with forfeit application on January 6, 2016.

Justice Hassan granted the interim forfeiture order after he gave 14 days for anyone to step forward and claim ownership to the money and show cause why the money should not be permanently forfeited to the FG.

When the case was heard on January 24, 2017, no one came to court to claim ownership of the huge sum. Except for the Executive Director, Public Sector Accountant, First Bank Plc, Mr. Dauda Lawal, who was joined as the second respondent in the suit.

Lawal appeared in court through his lawyer, Mr. Charles Adeogun-Phillips, to claim the N9,080,000,000.

Defense Attorney Adeogun-Phillips appeal to the Judge that the EFCC misrepresented facts in urging the court to order the forfeiture of the N9,080,000,000 belonging to his client as proceeds of crime.

According to him, his client was arrested by the agency and coerced to sign an undertaking to make a refund N9.08bn to the Federal Government as a condition for his release, adding that his client had to raise the money from associates.

After pleading his case, Adeogun-Phillips urged the Judge to order the release of the money to his client.

The Court Verdict

In his Judgement on Thursday February 16, Justice Hassan stated thus:
I hereby make an order pursuant to Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2016, for final forfeiture of the unclaimed sum of N23, 426, 300.000 and five million United States dollars to the Federal government finally.
He rejected the plea by Attorney Phillips due to lack of evidence,. Therefore, Hassan ordered for the final forfeiture of the unclaimed sum of N23, 426, 300.000.00, to the Federal Government of Nigeria, including the sum of N9.08bn recovered from the second respondent, Mr. Lawal.

The Justice thanked the EFCC for the good work and urged the government to ensure the money turned to good use to benefit Nigerians.

Photos: UK Base Nigerians Protests At NHC, Demands To See President Buhari

Several Nigerians living in the United Kingdom has boldly matched and staged a formation in front of the Nigerian High Commission, demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari comes out and speak to them.

It's been more than two weeks, precisely on January 19, since the president flew to the UK for medical check up and the presidency is yet to proffer the country with updates on his health, hence doubts are mounting and people are wondering if Buhari is still alive or dead.
Recall that the President's daughter Zahra Buhari Indimi and the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, had assured Nigerians that Mr. Buhari will return back to the country on Monday, February 6, hale and hearty.
The recent announcement which says that Buhari has extended his vacation indefinitely due to incomplete medical checkup, failed to convince Nigerians, both home and abroad. And as expected, there are onslaughts against government for lack of transparency that was one of the campaign promises made by the APC led administration in Nigeria.
